Naming Opportunities

Make a gift. Make a difference.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison welcomes private support to nurture and advance lesbian, gay, bisexual & transgender campus initiatives in important new ways.

While gifts of any size are welcome, major gift possibilities exist to name a permanent "endowed" fund at the U.W. Endowed funds forever connect the name of the donor (or someone the donor wishes to honor) with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Most important, endowed funds provide a lasting resource and source of support for an area and a cause that a donor cares about deeply.

Below is an overview of some naming opportunities associated with the emerging LGBT campus initiative, to support our LGBT students and sustain and advance the UW's LGBT Studies Certificate Program. The gift levels described are intended as minimum amounts needed to name the respective opportunity. In most cases, gifts may be made over several years.

Named endowed funds are invested by the university to generate annual income in perpetuity for the purpose specified by the donors. Only a portion of the annual return generated by each endowed fund is spent, so that the principal continues to grow to adjust for inflation. Gifts may be added to endowed funds at any time. Gifts may also be added to previously existing endowed funds.

Ways to give

Donors may create a named endowed fund now, through an outright gift, or in the future, through a bequest or life income gift, such as a charitable remainder trust. Outright gifts can be made by check, cash, credit card, securities, real property and online at www.uwfoundation.wisc.edu/giving
